Thank you! A great insight to writing processes. Can’t wait to read Mia’s work. Yes, it’s strange that it is frowned upon when an author genre-hops - I hope the publishing world can open its mind a little more to this. You and Iain Banks managed it with success so it can be done!
It's a bit of a battle to do it... but it's nice when it comes off. And Iain — though the two names — is definitely a great example of how to pull it off...
Totally engrossing 'conversation' - and now I'll be looking for her book, too! Great questions and discussion from both of you. As for my TBR pile, it's a smidge overwhelming at times, but I hasten to add that I scan-read about 4-5 books each week no matter what is going on. Again, an excellent post for me this morning, Michael.
What a fascinating discussion! Thoroughly enjoyed that peek inside the writing process.
I spent a few years writing/submitting/reading rejection letters, before getting fully immersed in the whole Silicon Valley software engineering scene. I still keep story idea notes and think often about pursuing some of them.
I love hearing how authors develop a story, from those who primarily allow the characters to lead them, to those who say they lay down a detailed outline. (The latter always intimidated me, making me think I was doing it wrong.)
Anyway, thanks for adding several titles (yours as well as Mia’s) to my list!
You're very welcome! I'm mainly with you on the outline thing... the process both intimidates and slightly bores me ;-) I prefer just doing the writing... and then (hopefully) fixing it all later.
Well this all sounds bloody marvellous. No respect for my TBR though, I see. Adding Haven to the list!
Excellent :-)
Fun format, and great Zafon quote.
It's great, isn't it!

Thank you — really glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the wonderful look into a writers mind! Very enjoyable read.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This looks like a great new author to seek out. Thanks, Mike!
A pleasure — and I think you'll love Mia's stuff!
