On a side note, Isaac Hatcher sold his porous shipping business to prominent barrel racer Wimbledon Curfew, who then made a fortune transporting sea water to the English Lake District, where the streams and lakes were considered "too fresh".
(trigger warning). The Sisters of Infinite Procrastination ran a prison once. Prisoners on death row couldn’t stand the tension (will they, won’t they) and eventually committed suicide en mass.
From Santa Cruz stories my favorites are: About the sudden appearance of the building at the crossroads of Front and Pacific Street after the flood of 1904. About the appearance of a Tom Adams fishing boat in the middle of the village after the Great Storm of 1915. And about “ The picture of 1879 shows “the old man of the woods”, the last-known bear in Santa Cruz county” . The last one is a very true story, which takes place here repeatedly. … Animal rights organizations introduce bears for the purpose of repopulating the woods…. Then after some chilling experience they are forced to eliminate them. The latest chilling story that happened just this spring. Upon awakening, very hungry, the mother bear found a morsel to put under her teeth: that is, a boy. He was jogging………… (true and very sad story; I am sorry for the boy) ……… After a while, history repeats itself. New restocking leads to new cullings. Bears might say, "This isn't over."
Indeed. We never seem to quite get over the idea that animals are there for our benefit and convenience, not that they might real lives of their own that are worthy of respect. And when we try to fix that, it's heavy-handed, and goes wrong... and the cycle begins again.
I have it on good authority that some additional markings left by "the old man of the woods" were discovered years later. The meaning of the full set of markings is reputedly, "This isn't over. It'll never be over."
These are my favorite type of stories, Thank you, please never stop delivering these treats!
Thank you! I'll certainly try to keep it up... will be percolating a new batch soon ;-)
Santa Cruz has so much rich history! It's just not about serial killers.
I know! There's other killers too!
Yes! I know!
Infinite Procrastination is a noble profession still practiced where I live. As a matter of fact it is the reason I’ve moved here.
Don't you mean it's the reason you were thinking about moving there but just haven't got round to it?
Sorry.
Lol
Dude.

That's the spirit that made Santa Cruz great.

The bears reiterated again "This isn't over.”. Another bear- M90 was shot down by the authorities. This time in the “Trentino” region.

Works for me.
