I really loved this one. My second baby is coming up for six months old and I have a husband and a toddler who are both “witters” as my mum would say. There are many moments when I wish for 5 minutes of quiet! Perhaps the listening Angel would warn me of my wishes too. Thank you x
What a lovely story that turned out so differently than I expected. The travel aspect caught my interest and drew me in, but it was the description of the smell of the books in the bookstore that set the hook for me. I was instantly in the little public library in Sparks, Nevada choosing my next selection of Tom Swift Jr. books as a kid. Then suddenly I was in a library in Berkeley in graduate school reading Walter Benjamin's essay on his book collection. I could almost feel the pages of the old book, but what happened to the characters as a result of that book just blew me away. It got a little dusty in my house.
I'm very glad to hear that :-) And yes, bookstores are such magical places. By co-incidence I'm actually in London at the moment, five minutes walk from the bookstore street I had in mind while writing the story!
I have just wiped an annoying secretion from the left corner of my left eye and my mind's eye is still wandering out of focus back down the countless hours I've spent through the decades trapped by the field force emanating from Cecil Court. I don't think I'll risk going back there now. I'll just keep and re-read Being Right. Thank you Michael (and Marcia)
Glad it brought back some memories :-) There's still a couple decent stores there, thankfully... and even a couple on Charring Cross. But yes, the glory days are gone. But at least we had them.
:-)
Thank you!
W is downloading to Kindle for me. Thanks.
Hope you like it!
You've made me cry, again! It's lovely. Keep 'em coming. Cheers.
I shall - and thank you :)

We listeners are a group :-) Glad you liked it.
Finally had time to read this. Lovely! The combination of the everyday world with something very other works beautifully.
Really glad you enjoyed it!
