Thunderstruck is the best song ever written, I felt that way when I was 17 - still feel that way - will die on this hill!

Love this! As someone who is more or less musically illiterate it's fascinating!

Same. Sadly I’m without headphones right now but will be back later when I can get my hands on them!

Dude, this is brilliantly observed and laid out, on every level, from the analysis of the music's working parts to their literary applications. I write like a rock band as well, accurately aware of the rhythms, the syncopated juxtapositions, the ways that layers of emotion and meaning can be snuck inside the propulsive whole. But I've never seen it written about so beautifully. SO GLAD I FOUND THIS! Thanks!!!

Hey John — thank you! I was semi-convinced that readers would think "What the hell is he talking about???', so I'm delighted it landed with you :-)

Brilliant piece Michael! You are one of us (pun intended). Proper nerd stuff :)

The last time i said "listen carefully at 0:51, that's when the magic starts.... Its the rhythm guitar that builds the foundation of the song..... " i ended up married with a kid !
