When one has 'cat lap' one is obliged to remain in place until such time as cat has determined that said lap is no longer required. Equally important, all other members of the household are expected to attend to the needs of the individual with this condition. This is the way.

It is the way, and when you live in a household where all accept this — and their attendant duties — you know you're living int he right place.

The cat thing is so true…. Also, the animal sleep thing. To which I would add, that is a measure of human trust, as well. Could I sleep when that person is present? The loss of that trust spelled the end of my marriage. But the feeling when an animal, domestic or wild, sees you as a safe pair of hands - makes you feel chosen.
